How should you wear your hair system?
The first step is to figure out what’s the best way for you to wear your hair system. This determines the type of base you can use, whether you need to shave, your maintenance schedule, and how long a system is going to last you.
Hair systems are typically used for people with receding hairline or thinning crown, but some users with naturally thin hair may also opt to use a hair system. Check out the infographic here to find the method that’s best for you.
To use a hair system without shaving your hair, you will need at least 1 cm of space between your hairline and the top wrinkle line. This area is for the adhesive tape.
If you do not have this amount of space on your forehead, then you will need to either shave at least the front of your hairline, or opt to use a system that is clipped at the front. For systems clipped at the front, it will be more challenging to have a hairstyle that shows the hairline.
EasyMane’s hair systems come with clips by default. If you wish to wear it with full tape or glue, you can indicate in your order during check out and we will not install the clips for you.
Silk or Cool Lace?
The base material of a hair system affects the realism and durability of a system.
If you are on a tight budget, the Cool Lace system is a great choice that costs less than USD $1 a day.
If USD $2 a day is within your budget, then Silk Lace would be ideal for you. It offers a more realistic appearance with basically the same comfort level. The ultra realistic hairline is especially important if you want to adopt hairstyles that shows of the hairline.
What hair length should you get?
This is a highly subjective choice and largely depends on what hairstyles you like.
Our hair systems are cut to various lengths, and each can be styled to multiple hairstyles.
If you are not sure what hairstyle you want, here are some tips:
- Crew length is easy to style, but difficult to maintain. You will need to trim your natural hair every 2-3 weeks because it needs to be shorter than the hair system’s hair to blend in naturally.
- The longer the hair length, the more skill it takes to style the hair.
- The short length hair offers a good balance between ease of styling and maintenance. A side part with this hairstyle can easily suit both formal and casual occasions.
- Don’t worry about what hairstyle suits your face shape. If in doubt, a side part with EasyMane’s short or medium length system will suit any face shape.
What's your size?
Follow our video guide to measure your size.
You will need a flexible ruler or measuring tape.
If you are wearing the system with clips + tape:
- follow the video guide exactly.
- Clipped on systems sizes do not have to be too accurate. It’s fine for someone to wear +/- one size. So don’t worry too much about matching your hair loss area perfectly.
- Simply ensure that the size selected can cover your hair loss area plus 2cm to the width and length. e.g. if your hair loss area is 14cm x 16cm, you should choose a size that is at least 16cm x 18cm.
Always round up rather than round down. e.g. if your hair loss area is 14cm x 18.5cm, you should choose a size that is at least 16cm x 21cm (18.5cm + 2cm = 20.5cm, rounded up to 21cm).
If you are wearing it with full tape or glue:
- Do not add 2 cm to the width and length.
- Don’t be too worried about matching your size exactly too. It’s fine if the measurement is off by 1 cm. You can always shave more of your hair or trim the perimeter of the system if the size is slightly too big. Minor changes to the size wouldn’t be noticeable visually.
